Help Wanted at 2024 Monster Energy AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship and ATVMX National Championship Events at Loretta Lynn’s
The 2024 Monster Energy AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship is set to be held July 29 - August 3 in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee at Loretta Lynn's Ranch while the season finale of the ATV Motocross National Championship coming the proceeding weekend, August 9-11. MX Sports is looking for additional flagging help for both events.
Job Summary:
Each year the Loretta Lynn’s race week and Loretta Lynn’s ATVMX round are both made successful with tremendous help from on-track flaggers coming not just from the local area, but many hours away as well. These individuals come from all different walks of life from various points in the country to work together to provide the safest racecourse possible for racers. Many of those who join the flag crew begin the week as strangers but seemingly always end the Loretta Lynn’s experience as close friends and return for numerous years to come back and enjoy the racing up close and personal.
Potential candidates must be able to work in high-stress situations near the racecourse and remain attentive throughout each race day, monitoring their section of the racecourse ready to quickly alert riders of potential hazards. The Loretta Lynn’s event is much different than flagging your local motocross events as the speeds are higher, each race sees a full gate of racers, and every racer is giving their all out on the racetrack. Just like the racers, the flag crew must always give 110% of their effort as well. Breaks are given, lunch, drinks and snacks are provided throughout each day and while this is no walk in the park, the experience is second to none as doing your part to keep racers safe is a rewarding feeling and something that keep long-time Loretta Lynn’s flaggers returning.
Ideally the MX Sports team is looking for individuals who can commit to flagging the entire Loretta Lynn’s National event. If you’re unable to commit to the entire National race week, the ATV Motocross event is held over a three-day weekend from Friday through Sunday on the following weekend and is the perfect opportunity for those who want to be part of the Loretta Lynn’s experience but on a bit smaller scale.
Activities & Responsibilities:
Ownership: A successful flagger will take great pride in doing their part to keep racers safe on their section of the racetrack. We work as a team and we all must work together to make the racecourse as safe as possible. Our event is your event. Our track is your track. Our success is your success. Take pride in your part so that when the checkered flag waves, we can be proud together.
Operations: It is imperative that each flagger understands and properly executes his or her responsibilities within the flagging team. These include:
- Monitoring assigned section of racecourse.
- Remain standing, alert and attentive all times bikes are on track.
- Wave flags to alert racers of downed riders, machines or other hazards on the racecourse.
- Willingness and ability to follow directions from Flagger Supervisors and adjust on the fly if needed.
- Ability to keep calm in high-stress situations
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Adhere to training and safety guidelines established by MX Sports
- Comfort being close to the fastest amateur motocross racers on the planet
- Be cool. Seriously, keep a positive attitude and enjoy yourself at the same time! Motocross is fun. Flagging is a very serious job, but the crews have fun as well.
Pay Structure:
- Pay is based on a daily flat rate given at the end of the event, with a bonus given to those who flag all six days of the National
- Lunch, Snacks and Drinks provided daily
- Uniform shirts provided
