MORGANTOWN, W. Va. (June 1, 2022) - As part of its dedicated support of the U.S. Motorcycle Coaching Association (USMCA), MX Sports has announced the continuation of an exclusive certified coaches tower at the 2022 Monster Energy AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship. The USMCA Coaching Tower will be restricted to current USMCA-certified coaches only during the week of the event, scheduled for August 1-6, from Tennessee’s Loretta Lynn’s Ranch.
Any rider coaches planning to attend Loretta Lynn’s that are not yet USMCA certified can begin the certification process by registering through the USMCA Certification Portal. As part of its procedures to obtain certification, the USMCA requires coaches to adhere to a code of conduct and pass a national background screening. Additionally, certified coaches must hold certifications in abuse prevention, CPR/First Aid, concussion protocol, heat illness, and cardiac arrest training. Above all, certified coaches must understand the core fundamentals of coaching and training. The certification process is 100% online and valid for two years. All USMCA certified coaches have a profile on the newly released Motorcycle Coaching app, available for free use and download in the iOS and Google Play app stores, search “Motorcycle Coaching by USMCA”.
Upon completion, certified coaches will receive a specific credential at the Welcome Center as soon as they come on site. Since coaches and trainers are not permitted to have infield access at the Monster Energy AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship, the USMCA Certified Coaches Tower provides a dedicated location for the individuals who provide this invaluable support to riders.
With over 380 active certified coaches across 45 States, MX Sports is excited to see so many coaches invest in their coaching business. “The USMCA legitimizes coaching in our sport and we are privileged to witness their continued development and growth year after year,” said Tim Cotter, Event Director, MX Sports. “We at MX Sports believe in the USMCA and are thrilled to recognize the significance of their role by providing an exclusive access point that is necessary and deserved.”
The USMCA is supported by Honda, Husqvarna, KTM, Yamaha, Wells Fargo, Mountain Motorsports, FOX Racing, MotoSport.com, Ryno Power, and National Powersports Auction (NPA). The USMCA will also host a coaches dinner with a guest speaker, open to all current coaches and coaches wanting to learn more at the Loretta Lynn’s event. This dinner will be held on Wednesday, August 3 at 7:30pm; location is still TBD. Dr. Reiman with Alpinestars Mobile Medical Unit will be on site to discuss concussion evaluation and management. The Monster Energy AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship is the world's largest and most prestigious amateur motocross racing program. This year due to COVID-19 the qualifying system was broken into a five-week Regional Championship system. The qualifying system culminates in the National Final (first week in August) hosted annually since 1982 at the home of country music star Loretta Lynn in Hurricane Mills, Tenn. Christened "The World's Greatest Motocross Vacation", the National event serves as a launch pad for some of the biggest names in professional motocross and supercross, including Ricky Carmichael, James Stewart, Ryan Villopoto, and Ryan Dungey. The national program is produced by MX Sports, Inc., a West Virginia-based race production company and is sanctioned by the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA).
