Thirty Six National Champions Crowned in Tennessee

HURRICANE MILLS, Tenn. (August 5, 2019) – The final day of racing at the 2019 Rocky Mountain ATV/MC AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship, presented by Lucas Oil, took place Saturday, August 3, at Loretta Lynn Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. The Senior (40+) class would start out the last day of racing with Michael Brown coming out on top with three moto wins.

As the final moto of the 250 C Limited took off the gate, it would be Hunter Nitsch earning his second moto win of the week. However, after a sixth place finish in moto one, Nitsch would finish second overall with Derek Leatherman earning the National Championship with 1-2-3 moto finishes.   

In the Girls (11-16) class Cami Samples took home the final moto win. Katie Benson, who earned the first two moto wins, was leading the pack but suffered a crash that put her back to fifth in that last race. Benson earned second overall with Mikayla Nielson clinching the title after going 2-3-2 during the week.

The Junior (25+) class championship came down to the last moto between Michael Brown and Darryn Durham. Brown and Durham would battle it out throughout the week, but it would be Brown taking home the number one plate. Brown would go 1-2-1 to clinch the title with Durham scoring 2-1-2 in the class. 

The final moto of the 85cc (10-12) class would see Haiden Deegan taking the win and earning the championship. Deegan would go 2-1-1 with Daxton Bennick coming through second overall and Casey Cochran, who finished third in each moto, rounded out the top three. 

The 450 C class saw Tyler Foster sweep the motos, earning the gold medal and clinching that number one plate at the end of the week. Travis Randanella would stay consistent throughout the week, and would finish second overall after going 4-3-3 in each moto. Tyler Allen came through to earn third overall with Luke Geis and Dillon Richey rounding out the top five.

Jarrett Frye would sweep the Schoolboy 2 (12-17) B/C class, receiving three gold medals and earning the championship. Stilez Robertson battled throughout the week, and would come through second overall with Preston Kilroy holding onto third overall after going 2-3-8 in each moto.

The last moto of the day was greeted with a torrential downpour, after a 30-minute rain delay due to lightning in the area. Luke Fauser, who had won the first two motos, came out battling to keep his title contention in view. Fauser would finish second in the last moto and take home the championship in the 65cc (10-11) class. Canyon Richards went 3-6-4 to take home second overall with Austin Schafer rounding out the podium. Nathan Hummel would earn a gold medal in the last moto by taking the win after having some bad luck strike in the first two motos.
