AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship
Final Step in Qualifying for AMA Amateur National Set to Start May 25 and 26
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (May 23, 2019) – The final step in qualifying for the 38th Annual Rocky Mountain ATV/MC AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship, presented by Lucas Oil, begins this weekend in two regions across the United States. Amateur racers in the Northeast and South Central will continue their quest to compete in the world’s largest and most prestigious amateur motocross race at the iconic Loretta Lynn Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee.
High Point Raceway in Mount Morris, Pennsylvania will host the Northeast Amateur Regional Championship this weekend, May 25 and 26. In addition, Farm 14 in Centreville, Mississippi will also host the South Central Amateur Regional this weekend. These two events kick off the 13 total Regional Championships, which take place in eight regions around the United States.
“The Road to Loretta’s heats up starting this weekend as Regional Championships begin with the Northeast and South Central Regions at High Point Raceway and Farm 14,” said MX Sports Director Tim Cotter. “This is often the largest race of the year for most racers as only a small percentage get to punch their ticket to the big dance. Good luck to all the riders in their quest for a spot at the 2019 Rocky Mountain ATV/MC AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship.”
The Regional Championships serve as the final step in seeding riders for the world’s largest and most prestigious amateur motocross championship. The first Regional Championships begin this weekend and will continue every weekend until June 22 and 23. Only riders who finish in a qualifying position at a Regional Championship are eligible to race the AMA Amateur National the week of July 29 – August 3, 2019.
“The nation’s top amateur motocross talent is set to do battle for a chance to become an AMA National Champion,” AMA Motocross Manager Alex Hunter said. “AMA Regional Qualifiers feature some of the most intense motocross racing on earth, as riders vie for a chance to live their dream of racing at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch in July.”
Each racer participating in the Regional Championships must pre-register in order to reserve their gate position. The Race Gas program by Rocky Mountain ATV/MC will be in full effect at all Regional Championships. Every racer who competes in at least one class at a Regional Championship will receive one $20 credit, redeemable toward products on www.rockymountainatvmc.com. Competitors will receive an email explaining the amount of the credit, the event it came from and the expiration date. Credit is applied to the account associated with the rider’s email address. Those without Rocky Mountain ATV/MC accounts will be able to sign up for a new account through the email they receive.
“We would like to congratulate all of the riders who have earned a place in the upcoming Loretta Lynn’s Regional Championships for making it another step closer to the nationals,” says Dan Thomas, CEO and founder of Rocky Mountain ATV/MC. “Every rider who has made it to this point has earned a place through hard work and dedication, and your excitement for and commitment to the sport is what makes us proud to be a continuing sponsor for the road to Loretta’s.”
