The 5th Annual Monster Energy Ricky Carmichael Daytona Amateur Supercross (RCSX) is set to kick off next weekend, March 9 and 10, at the historic Daytona International Speedway. The AMA-sanctioned RCSX, an American Motocross Major event, is pleased to announce that Suzuki is offerring double in contingency prize money, totalling nearly $60,000, at this year’s event.

Taking place just one day after Saturday’s Daytona Supercross by Honda, many of the industry’s top supporters will stick around to scout the upcoming talent and provide trackside support to the amateur racers. As a longtime supporter of 15-Time Champion Ricky Carmichael, Suzuki will return to the RCSX at Daytona for the fifth consecutive year in 2014. Suzuki’s amateur support team will once again provide a strong presence on Sunday and Monday.

In addition to posting the most contingency of any manufacturer at this year’s Ricky Carmichael Daytona Amateur Supercross, Suzuki is offerring racers who sign up for the 2014 Contingency Program a chance to compete for the opportunity to earn their spot for a two-day riding school with Ricky Carmichael through Suzuki’s Camp Carmichael program.

“Suzuki Motor of America is pleased to be affiliated with Ricky and all the work that he does for Amateur racing,” said Pat Alexander, Suzuki’s Amateur Race Support Manager. “Suzuki’s offer of double contingency dwarfs all other manufactures’ programs and we look forward to the end of the season when the top Suzuki riders will earn a place to attend Camp Carmichael!”

After signing up for the 2014 Suzuki Contingency Program, riders who compete in any of the 2014 Suzuki Motocross Contingency Races and place in the top five will earn points towards the two-day riding school. Twenty-four racers are invited (12 - RM-Z250/450 Riders and 12 - RM85/L Riders) in the end and Suzuki will be helping out with the rider’s travel costs. Suzuki amateur racers will have the opportunity to get riding tips from the GOAT himself on how to improve their corner speed, perfect those holeshots, blitz through the whoops and improve their speed and style through rhythm sections. He’ll also cover topics such as fitness, training and bike set up. Suzuki’s Camp Carmichael is the only place where you can get this special one on one instruction with RC, and it’s only for Suzuki riders!

The RCSX class structure includes classes for youth riders on 50cc bikes all the way up to vet and senior classes. The race will follow a supercross format, using heat races and last chance qualifiers to seed the field of riders into a main event in each class, over the course of two days. Unlike the Loretta Lynn Ranch format, riders do not need to qualify at other races in order to participate in the Daytona event.

This event will also kick off the eight round Women’s Motocross (WMX) Championship, featuring an all-new WMX Class for riders who are pre-approved for a 2014 WMX license, in addition to Women (12+) 99-250cc and Girls (9-13) 79-85cc 2-Stk.
