Subject: Comp. Bulletin 2012-3.1:
Application of Professional Licensed Rider Eligibility Clarification
Competition Bulletin 2012-3 issued May 29, 2012, is not retroactive. Accordingly, riders with “0” AMA Pro Racing points prior to May 29, 2012 are eligible to complete at the 2012 amateur national level in any class for which they are otherwise eligible. Competition Bulletin 2012-3 is applicable effective May 29, 2012 and forward, and thus riders who make the final 40 in either Pro Motocross (250 or 450 class) or an FIM MX1, MX2, MX3 Grand Prix event for the remainder of the year are only eligible to compete in the Open Pro Sport class at the amateur national level.
This position is necessary so as not to penalize riders currently participating in the amateur national qualifying program who were in compliance with the rule prior to issuance of Competition Bulletin 2012-3.
