Loretta Lynn Area Qualifier: Oatfield Raceway

Wednesday, April 15, 2015 | 12:10 PM

This would be our first Loretta Lynn Area Qualifier that we would get to cover and we were all looking forward to it. There have been several good races already this season and everyone was excited to see where the racers would end up against their competition. Jack and Corky, from AMP GFI racing, left the track with no changes, so the riders new the fast lines and where the ruts would form. The weather was perfect and as all AMP GFI races, it started and ran like clockwork. The 250A-B races had some serious competition at the gate and proved to be some of the best racing of the weekend! In the 450A class, local rider Keith Knight rode away with the victory and was riding on the very edge of what speed is possible at the track, as other riders did not seem as comfortable in the massive ruts or speeding over the braking bumps, Keith looked as if he was on a thin layer of air riding as smooth as if on a freshly groomed sand track. Tyson Johnson with EMT Racing also put on a show, showing just how far you can push his shops Kawasaki 80cc dirt bikes. The weather held for both days and it seemed everyone was having a great time, this is what Northern California racing is all about, and it is a good atmosphere with good people and good tracks! We look forward to seeing everyone at the next race!
