Morgantown, W.Va. (February 25, 2010) -- Ricky Carmichael University is proud to announce the addition of yet another past Daytona Supercross winner to its faculty in Jeff Stanton. A four-time winner of the Daytona Supercross By Honda, Stanton brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the team, joining five-time winner Carmichael and '97 Daytona SX winner Jeff Emig on the faculty. All three riders are past AMA Supercross Champions, as well as multiple time AMA Motocross Champions.

Stanton will work alongside Carmichael and Emig in teaching the 100 riders enrolled in this new academy, which will commence on May 8 at Daytona International Speedway. Ricky Carmichael University is a new program organized by Carmichael, MX Sports, and Daytona International Speedway as a unique opportunity for future Supercross champions, as well as past prospects who still enjoy riding and bench-racing, to enjoy learning trade secrets from three of the best and most popular athletes our sport has ever known.

"I grew up watching Jeff Stanton dominate this race every year from 1989 to '92," said Carmichael of his new recruit to the Ricky Carmichael University Faculty. "I was also lucky enough to work with Jeff while I was at Team Honda for three years, and I know he's a great communicator as a well as one of the all-time greats out on the race track. I am really proud to have him join Jeff Emig and myself and the rest of our staff for this program."

"I still try to make it down to the Daytona Supercross By Honda every year, and when Ricky called to ask me if I was interested in playing an active role in this new school he's put together, I was excited about the opportunity," said Stanton, who still holds the record for consecutive wins at the Daytona Supercross. "I look forward to spending Sunday watching the amateur races and then going to work with Ricky and Jeff on Monday and sharing what I have learned over the years about being a racer."

Stanton is a AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame racer who holds three AMA Supercross titles and three AMA Motocross Championships. A resident of Sherwood, Michigan, he retired from professional racing in 1994 but still serves an advisor to the Honda Red Bull Racing team.
