Rocky Mountain ATV/MC AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship Participants Receive Prestigious Awards at the
2015 AMA Championship Banquet
Benny Bloss and Branden Walther Recognized

The 2015 American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) Championship Banquet took place this past weekend in Columbus, Ohio. Many of the sport’s top racers were recognized and received their 2015 AMA National No. 1 plates. However, there were two participants of the 2015 Rocky Mountain ATV/MC AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship, presented by AMSOIL, who took home top honors.

Yamaha’s Benny Bloss took command of the Open Pro Sport championship this summer at the historic Loretta Lynn Ranch going 3-1-1, in addition to his third overall in 450 A. This championship ultimately led him to receive the esteemed AMA Horizon Award.

This past Saturday, Bloss was named the 2015 AMA Athlete of the Year: Grand Championship Series. This coveted award recognizes a racer who excelled in the highest level of competition on a national level. Unable to attend the banquet due to participating in the 2016 AMA Arenacross National Championship Series in preparation for the 2016 AMA Supercross East Coast Regional Series, Bloss was honored when notified of the award:

“I am so excited and just amazed that I am the 2015 AMA Athlete of the Year,” said Bloss. “I would like to thank the AMA for nominating me and the AMA members for voting for me.”

Mini Senior 1 and 2 competitor, Branden Walther, was presented the AMA Sportsman of the Year Award. Walther was involved in a crash right off the start during one of his races at the Amateur National, but before getting back up to resume his own race he helped another downed rider.
