Cycle Ranch MX Hosts Successful South Central Area Qualifier

Over 1,000 people from all parts of the country traveled to Cycle Ranch MX in Floresville, TX last weekend in pursuit of qualifying for the Rocky Mountain ATV/ MC AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship presented by AMSOIL, at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch.

Trailers, motorhomes and motocross families invaded Cycle Ranch on Thursday, February 19, in preparation for festivities that began on Friday.  With high chances of rain forecasted during the week, the sunny skies were a joy to see for everyone.

Friday kicked off the Loretta Lynn’s South Central Area Qualifier with organized practice from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. along with vendors setting up, the MotoLicious café serving food and the MotoShack assisting riders with their bikes.

Vendors row was lively with Red Bull, Amsoil, Kawasaki Team Green, Race Tech Suspension and D’Moto San Antonio offering pristine trackside support, with Lopez Catering, Trackside Tee’s and Motocross Vest offering a variety of food, products and services.

Red Bull, who is a sponsor of Cycle Ranch and the Rocky Mountain ATV/MC AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship, made their presence known with the Red Bull tent, Wings Team Members - who handed out cases of Red Bull to all present, and showing the Red Bull film “On Any Sunday, The Next Chapter” under the pavilion on Saturday night.

Saturday morning kicked off some great racing with the Youth Classes, starting with Blake Neihiser of Crosby, TX sweeping the 250A and 450A classes going 1-1 in 250 A and 2-1 in 450 A for first overall in both classes. Andrew Pierce of Huffman, TX and Curren Thurman from Alvin, TX battled in both 250A and 450A resulting in Thurman taking second in 250A and third in 450A, and Pierce taking third in 250A and second in 450A. Asbury, MO native Brock Lassiter took home some hardware after winning all motos in the 65cc Limited and 85cc Limited classes.

Carter Halpain of Lubbock, TX and Challen Tennant of Willis, TX looked almost unstoppable in their motos throughout the weekend. Halpain and Tennant started the battle in Schoolboy 1 on Saturday and finished it in Schoolboy 2 on Sunday, as Tennant took the overall going 1-1.  John Belding, a Cycle Ranch sponsored rider was the Local Hero from Pearsall, TX, put on a show going 1-2 in 250B Limited, 2-1 in Collegeboy and 2-2 in 250B.

Cycle Ranch Motocross is a premier motocross track just outside of San Antonio, Texas.
