The first step in the qualification process for the road to the 2015 Rocky Mountain ATV/MC AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship presented by AMSOIL begins this weekend, Feb. 14 and 15, in three regions across the U.S.

For the first time, all Area Qualifiers will be included in Rocky Mountain ATV/MC’s popular Race Gas program, where one $10 Rocky Mountain ATV/MC gift card per rider will be sent to racers for each Area Qualifier they participate in, regardless of final placement.

Arizona Cycle Park in Buckeye, Arizona kicks off the Southwest area-qualifying program, while the Motocross of Marion County opens the Southeast qualifying process in Citra, Florida. For west coast riders, MMX Racing in Marysville, California will host the opening qualifier for the Northwest region.

“We are excited to embark on this schedule that, as always, features the best facilities and organizers in America,” said MX Sports Director Tim Cotter. “However, the 2015 season will prove to be a landmark year for the Rocky Mountain ATV/MC AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship as we welcome an all-new region in the Mid-East, many new venues and enjoy some of the lowest gas prices we’ve seen in quite some time.”

Riders from all over the country compete in the AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship qualifier program. Classes are available for competitors from four years old to 50-plus on a range of motorcycles, including 50cc minibikes to highly modified 450cc motocross machines.

"The first step toward amateur racing greatness at the Rocky Mountain ATV/MC AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship begins with this weekend's AMA Area Qualifiers," said AMA Motocross Manager Kip Bigelow. "The AMA Area Qualifiers feature top local talent, racing for the right to ascend to an AMA Regional Motocross Championship. We've worked hand in hand with our promoting partner MX Sports to find the best facilities the country to host these racers. We have no doubt that this will be one of the best amateur motocross seasons ever."

The Area Qualifiers serve as the first step in qualifying for the world’s largest and most prestigious amateur motocross championship. The Regional Championships then serve as the next step to seed riders into the National Championship at the Loretta Lynn Ranch. Only riders who finish in a qualifying position at a Regional Championship are eligible to race the National, which takes place July 26 – Aug. 1, 2015 in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee.
